Clean install Windows Empty Clean install Windows

I have to ask. Is it good or an asset in any way to go for a clean install?

I noticed somewhere someone suggested about how long has it been since you had a clean install on your computer?

This was not directed at me, but it made me realize it has been a LONG time since I have had to reinstall windows. I thought that was the purpose of doing a partition just for the operating system so I wouldn't have to do that.

Why I do a back up of Norton Ghost, otherwise why waste the space, even when I did replace the hd, I just ghosted (not a real word OK.) the C drive back onto the new HD.

I still probably won't reformat and reinstall it if you tell me I should, but just curious what or why anyone would want to?
thanks

Well some programs have to use part of the "c" drive to work properly, and over time the program may get deleted in favor of a better one, but bits and pieces of it will remain in the "c" drive so it is a good thing to do a clean install every year or 2. I haven't done one on my main computer for about 3 years so I need to set some time to do so.

oh crap. I might be quite a bit more than 3 years...

I am thinking closer to 5.

edit... I think maybe I did about 3 years ago as well. It has been quite awhile tho.
I remember watching Leo and his sidekicks and they talked about doing a clean install annually.

that was when tech tv was still on satellite feed.
