Windows XP Service Pack 3
Hey, everyone.
Not a computer problem, but, I've just finished installing XP SP3 on the main computer and this laptop using the full 316MB Service Pack which I downloaded from here. It is the final version if anyone's wondering.
That's a screen shot from the laptop I'm using at the moment. I still have to update the other one that I take to work.
XP still looks and 'feels' the same and, no problems so far. I still think one has less problems if they use the 'full' Service Pack to update rather than using Windows Update which only downloads and installs the files you need since most people already have most of them. I suspect that if any of these existing files are corrupted in any way then it'll lead to problems, With the 'full' Service Pack it overwrites all the files with 'new' versions.
Well, I'm off to make a new XP CD with SP3 included. I'm still annoyed that you can't do that with Vista SP1.

Until all the bugs are sorted out and MS contact Harley to let him know a revised Service Pack is ready just for him to download?
Since he never installs any other updates.

Doesn't he just piss you off with all his shit. He may know somethings but he sure as hell doesn't know how to interact with common folk. lolCarl D wrote:Lowndsey. wrote:Harley said you should wait 6 years before even thinking about putting that on.

Hmm, looks like they may be releasing a 'revised' SP3 for XP soon. The download from the Majorgeeks link in my first post has been removed.
Even though I'm not having any problems, I may go back to the Ghost images I made before I installed SP3 on my 3 computers and wait for the updated one.

Re: Windows XP Service Pack 3
I have Vista on my machine, so I guess I don't even have to worry about this update then! I will alert my friends about it though. Thanks!

OK, the links are back up at Majorgeeks.

Does that mean they've fixed it now?

Re: Windows XP Service Pack 3
Well, I downloaded SP3 again (and, I'm pretty sure its the exact same Service Pack as before lol) and installed it on my 3 machines.
Everything's working fine again so far... I'm going to leave it on this time.

Success On 2 PCs last night with SP3 from Windows Update..
Darned Comodo Firewall kept popping up on my Dimension 5150, so
disabled it & Avast, seemed to hang, so re-enabled them..
Took ages on this PC with Comodo and it`s darn popups for changes..
Well got it done.
My older Dimension 4550 with Norton, disabled the Norton Virus & it
installed quicker than the newer PC..
Both are working great no problems at all..

He does provide us with some good stuff though.
Installed XP Service Pack 3 on our desktop today. Only problem was I used to use the address bar on the task bar and SP3 took that option out. I have a fix and I'll see if I can find it and add it here.
HERE'S THE FIX
